From Spreadsheets to System: Why I started BLUME

White and pink flowers

When my business transitioned from retail to weddings and events, everything changed.  I was quoting larger, more complex jobs, but I had no real system for pricing them. I was often shooting from the hip, hoping I'd remembered to include everything.

I used a very basic spreadsheet for ordering, notes were scattered around my desk, supplier orders had to be re-typed into email and the more events I booked, the harder it became to keep everything organised.

At the beginning, it worked, but as my business grew, so did the admin. I wasn't just arranging flowers anymore, I was spending more hours preparing quotes, creating supplier orders, chasing payments, answering emails, and trying to remember where I'd written down important information.

It felt like I was running five different systems instead of one business,  and that's the point where I realised I'd outgrown spreadsheets. My business had simply just grown beyond what they were ever designed to do.

Sound familiar?

If you're reading this and nodding your head, you're definitely not alone.

Have you ever spent hours manually costing flower recipes, winging the wholesale costs, then sending a quote off to your client before you realise that you've forgotten to include  labour, delivery, mechanics, or hire items.

Perhaps you know the feeling all too well of "Has that client paid their deposit?" or, "Did I actually send that supplier order?"

or, "Which version of the quote did they approve?"

Or maybe you've looked at your calendar and thought, "I'd love to take on another booking... but I honestly don't know how I'd keep on top of everything."

There has to be a better way

When I created Blume, I didn't want just a quoting tool. I wanted one place where everything connected.

I wanted one place where every event could be managed from start to finish. A place where I could see everything at a glance, where quoting became enjoyable instead of overwhelming, where accepted quotes flowed effortlessly into invoices and supplier orders, and where florist worksheets, production notes, and every event detail lived together in one beautifully organised workspace. One organised system that actually works the way florists work.

What changed for me

The biggest surprise wasn't that I became more organised but that the quoting process was no longer stressful, and no longer took hours -  I got my evenings back!

All of the information works in harmony from the moment I enter the new event details. Supplier orders are created in seconds and my team always knows exactly what to make because every production worksheet is clear and detailed.

Clients receive professional quotes they can sign online, our suppliers receive easy-to-navigate PDF flower orders with a single click,  and with status tracking,  I can instantly see where every booking is sitting—from enquiry through to production.

Most importantly, I finally understood what every event was actually making. Instead of hoping a wedding was profitable, I knew it was.

That's what Blume is really about

Blume is more than florist software.

It's about creating a business that feels calm instead of chaotic. It's about protecting your profit without spending hours with a calculator and it's about having confidence that nothing has been forgotten.

It provides a platform for you to really enjoy your business again.

Ready to leave spreadsheets behind?

Spreadsheets are a great place to start, but they don't have to be where your business stays.

If you're open to making a positive change, I'd love to welcome you to Blume and show you how it can support you, your team, and your business every step of the way.

I designed it for florists like us.
